Understanding the whole story
Kirsten works to understand what the substance is doing for the person, what risks are present, and what other symptoms need attention. Treatment is individualized and may involve collaboration with therapists, recovery supports, addiction specialists, or medical providers.
What care may include
- Psychiatric assessment
- Evaluation of co-occurring ADHD, anxiety, or mood concerns
- Medication management when appropriate
- Motivational and supportive therapeutic strategies
- Harm-reduction or recovery-oriented planning as clinically appropriate
- Family or provider collaboration
- Referral to specialized addiction treatment when needed
